Guarded by the charming bell tower of the church of San Dalmazio, the Residence Il Monastero is a place to enjoy nature and be surrounded by peace and tranquility, just like in an ancient cloister. Here it is easy to forget the frenzy of the city life and immerse yourself in the suggestive calmness of the small village, between narrow streets and distinct sights.

The history of Il Monastero
Established as an annex to the church of the small village of San Dalmazio, the residence was originally part of a Benedictine monastery complex built in the first half of the 12th century by a local nobleman so that his daughter would become its mother superior. In 2003, the monastery was sold to renovate the church and turned into a tourist facility, now surrounded by an olive grove planted by the previous parish priest who was not only a man of faith but also a passionate farmer. He replaced the vines with olive trees, as he believed that the land of the parish did not have the vocation of viticulture, but rather that of olive growing. Time proved him right.

The EVO Oil produced at Il Monastero
The olive trees along the ridge dominated by the structure are about seventy years old and the varieties planted are Leccino, Moraiolo and Frantoio. The olives are harvested directly by hand, without the use of machinery and are ground at the mill within the next day. Here Tuscan extra virgin olive oil is produced respecting the tradition and the right times to obtain a totally natural product that reflects the characteristics of the territory.

Clean energy relaxation
At Il Monastero , heating and hot water are obtained through geothermal energy from the nearby Larderello power plant.

Electricity, on the other hand, is produced through photovoltaic panels that, installed above the roof of some apartments, are able to meet the needs of all guests.
