Paolo Bettini is our new ambassador for Tuscany and in particular for the territory of Pomarance where, in the name of recovery, it has been launched an important cycling project involving facilities and territory, thanks to a partnership with the municipality.
About thirty holiday farms and B&Bs have joined the BikeandTaste website to offer moments full of sport, relaxation and nature that are tailored to the needs of cyclists, enhancing an area so rich in culture and landscape as a perfect choice for slow and sustainable holidays. From the fascinating use of clean geothermal energy to the crystal-clear waters in the Nature Reserves, there are so many treasures in these places that are so familiar to Paolo Bettini. A prerequisite for giving guests an authentic Pomaranian experience.
“I have spent an entire career training on the roads of these hills and I am happy that there is finally an actual project on the development of an extraordinary territory such as the geothermal area,” explains Paolo Bettini. “The numbers confirm that cycling is increasingly synonymous with freedom, and today many people choose two wheels to travel, enjoy the open air and rediscover a slower way of life. I would therefore like to thank the administration of the Town of Pomarance and the entire geothermal district because they have understood the importance of supporting cycling tourism at this moment in history, where the bicycle has proved to be an extraordinary means of recovery after the pandemic.”
Who is Paolo Bettini
Born and raised in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, Paolo now lives in a small village in the hills of Val di Cecina. In his career as a professional cyclist he has won two world championships, an Olympic gold medal, two ‘Giro di Lombardia’, two Liège-Bastogne-Liège, a Milano-San Remo and much more. After having been coach of the Italian national team for three years, Paolo Bettini now collaborates with various cycling-related organisations such as Rai Sport and Giro d’Italia, as well as being brand ambassador for some of the best Italian companies in the sector.
