The Pavone valley is an unexplored place of rare beauty, located in the hills of Maremma Pisana. This valley has been carved over the centuries by the course of the homonymous stream that pour down with waterfalls in lush pools of clear water, making the landscape enchanting.

Exploring the Pavone valley
The Mediterranean vegetation in its most jarring and wildest side is what makes this corner of Tuscany so fascinating. Walking these paths, you have the feeling of entering a storybook or a fantasy saga. The rocks overlooking the river from which the wild thyme, the helichrysum, the juniper and other herbs typical of the land emerge, the narrow gorges between rock walls and the crystal-clear waters that are suddenly seen from the centuries-old woods all these envelop the visitor’s imagination, involving all his senses. An all-round experience that makes you feel like the pioneers of the 19th century naturalistic exploration.

A dip in the waters of the Pavone stream
The Pavone stream is the longest of the Cecina river tributaries and rises on one of the highest peaks of the Metallifere hills before crossing the provinces of Grosseto, Siena and Pisa.  In this valley, the waters of the natural pools formed by the stream are clear and emerald like, making it impossible to resist the temptation to take a regenerating dip.  The Masso delle Fanciulle and the Masso degli Specchi, small and isolated natural paradises, are perfect for spending a few hours of tranquility surrounded by the unspoiled nature. Between waterfalls and crystal-clear pools, this territory is ideal to be discovered even through such experiences as canoeing and hydrospeeding, that will help you unleash your wild and adventurous side.
