There are traditional dishes that always make us feel at home. Today we can find them on a typical tavern\u2019s menu, but once upon a time they were grandmother\u2019s no-waste recipes and definitely delicious dishes that created an authentic family atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are some of Veneto\u2019s comfort foods that are perfect to spend a warm and welcoming winter, accompanied by a glass of Prosecco DOCG.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sopressa, polenta and mushrooms<\/strong>
\nThe Sopressa is the Venetian sausage par excellence. Finely chopped with a knife, it is the typical appetizer of the Treviso taverns besides also being a pillar of the peasant tradition. Just like the yellow polenta, it creates a perfect triad to warm up the coldest days of the year during the mushroom season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Risotto with long radicchio from Treviso<\/strong>
\nThe Risotto with the radicchio is a real must of the Treviso cuisine: so soft and creamy, it immediately makes you think of family winter evenings. One of the most delicious versions is the one that uses the early red radicchio, distinguished by its carmine red color and the classic bitter taste. Its preparation is simple, the intense flavor of this vegetable is diluted in the sweetness of the butter and in the Parmesan cream. Not to miss the twist with a few slices of speck.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cabbage rolls<\/strong>
\nThe cabbage is one of the most versatile and tasty winter vegetables to which almost every Italian region dedicates at least one recipe. The Treviso-style cabbage rolls are filled with minced meat cooked with salt, pepper and herbs with the addition of one egg and some Parmesan. The filling is then wrapped in a blanched cabbage leaf and baked in the oven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pinza<\/strong>
\n<\/b>The Pinza is a typical dessert prepared during the Epiphany, January 6th. This dessert originally included very simple ingredients further enriched over the years. White flour, yellow flour, yeast, sugar and eggs are mixed together with the addition of dried figs, candied fruit, raisins and fennel seeds. The versions vary according to the recipes handed down from generation to generation, but the result is a soft and delicious cake that in the Treviso area also accompanies the New Year bonfires. It goes hand in hand with a glass of mulled wine for a perfect experience.<\/span><\/p>\n
